This is my first solo album, born out of a conviction that singing to children is good for them and good for the singer on the one hand and a passion for seeing traditional songs being sung as they were intended on the other.
There are 14 songs on the album, in Gaelic, Scots and English. These are my own, personal choices and all songs that I sing at bedtime with my own children. There are, in fact, many other songs I could have included as lullabies from Scottish tradition, but these 14 appealed to me for all sorts of reasons - my favourites being the ones sung to me as I was growing up.
As I looked into it, I found more and more evidence that singing to and with children has a whole host of benefits, not least developmental benefits and used the www.kistodreams.org site to expand more on this.
